Mathieu Gines in at #333 Yamaha
After Xavier Simeon left the VRD Igol Pierret Experiences Yamaha team, Mathieu Gines will replace the Belgian.
Endurance regular Mathieu Gines is about to partner Germany’s Florian Alt and fellow Frenchman Florian Marino in Yannick Lucot’s VRD Igol Pierret Experiences Yamaha team with the legendary #333, starting from this year’s 24 hours Le Mans.
Gines is the current French Superbike Champion and has – as his mates Alt and Marino – a lot of experiences in several racing series, such as 125cc and 250cc GP’s. 2011 Gines got crowned Endurance Superstock World Cup champion and EWC World Champion in 2014 with team GMT94, riding a Yamaha at this time already.
“I am very happy to achieve something with Yannick Lucot,” Gines states.
“I’ve been following his work for several years now, first in the Superstock class and now in the EWC. I have always seen a huge potential within his team. I also appreciate a lot the great spirit of this team.”
“They have a common vision without focusing on one lead rider. That is the spirit of Endurance.”
“I also like the idea of riding a Yamaha again because this is a brand I had a lot success and great sporting memories with. I hope I will build many more of those with my new team mates, starting with a first victory on a 24 hours race!”
