2019 – Bol d’Or: Bühn to replace Stamm at Bolliger

German rider Jan Bühn will replace Roman Stamm on the Bolliger Team Switzerland Kawasaki #8, EWC-Mag.com has learned.

Stamm collided with the #50 Suzuki of James Westmoreland during Thursday’s Qualifying 1 after the GSX-R cut off power going onto Mistral Straight. Stamm was hospitalized with suspected back injuries but back in the paddock on Friday morning.

“I went to the track’s Medical Center on Friday morning again and go the ok to rider after no injuries had been found in the check up,” Stamm said. He went on to do a couple of laps in Qualifying 2 with alright times on Friday morning.

“But unfortunately I have to be realistic: It is going to be impossible to ride a 24 hours race, so I drop out of the event. I am going home now and try to be fit for Sepang in December again,” Stamm closed his statement.

Bühn, who had a injury plagued season in the German IDM Superbike, is now the one to jump in on the ZX-10RR.

“I have never ridden a Kawasaki,” Bühn said. “But I am happy and grateful my team ERC Endurance released me to be free to ride the race.”

Bühn qualified in third position of the riders green group with a 1:56.209.
