The factory backed Yamaha Austria Racing Team of Team Manager Mandy Kainz has topped the official Pre-Bol d’Or test at Le Castellet, France. Niccolo Canepa and Marvin Fritz were joined by Ten Kate Yamaha WorldSBK rider Loris Baz, who already has a 24 hours win under his belt. The R1 mounted trio was on lap record pace already, posting a 1:54.154 minute time, which is just 0,147 behind the current track record.
Five teams took it under the marker of 1:55 with reigning world champions of Team SRC Kawasaki France (Jeremy Guarnoni, David Checa, Erwan Nigon) taking second spot.
#333 VRD Igol Pierret Experiences Yamaha got third of the test rankings, with Xavier Simeon, Florian Marino and Florian Alt getting in a 1:54.659.
This year’s EWC class newcomers of Tati Team Beaujolais Racing upped their game too by getting into fourth position with Alan Techer being a welcomed new addition to the squad.
Josh Hook, Freddy Foray and Mike di Meglio continue to be the line-up for the outgoing world champions of F.C.C. TSR Honda France and the squad also lapped the Paul Ricard Circuit in under 1:55 minutes.
Team ERC Endurance, who continue to send the newly crowned French Champion Mathieu Gines alongside of Julien da Costa and the former Grand Prix rider and new addition to the team – Louis Rossi, got into sixth position overall at the test, being the best BMW team. The ERC squad has changed almost everything inside the team since Suzuka, joining forces with a big part of the Mercury Racing team of Czech republic, who left the Championship.
It was the first outing for the new BMW Motorrad World Endurance factory team, managed by former Endurance rider Werner Daemen. He will put his German Championship (IDM) team riders Ilya Mikhalchik and Julian Puffe into the mix, joined by Frenchman Kenny Foray. Despite two crashes, the new BMW factory team got into seventh, with a best time of 1:55.076 min.
